Brief Job Description

The golf course superintendent is entrusted with the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course and club grounds. He/she is responsible for: Hiring and training the golf course maintenance staff, supervising the maintenance of the golf course, the maintenance and repairs of the equipment and cart fleet, Preparing annual budgets and monitoring spending within the grounds department, rendering professional advice, opinions, to club leadership on plans for the property both current and long-range. The golf course superintendent reports directly to the Chief Operating Manager.


Candidate Qualifications

SHCC is seeking a career-minded individual with a GCSAA Certification career track. A 2-4 year degree in Horticulture, Agronomy or related field is required. Prior experience as a Superintendent is desired however all candidates with a minimum of 3 years experience as an Assistant Superintendent at a comparable facility will be considered. Positive attitude and natural leadership abilities are crucial. Practical turfgrass knowledge including but not limited to construction principles, practices and methods for maintenance, a through understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf. The ability to problem solve and make decisions, plan and effectively communicate are also a must. The successful candidate will possess an unquestioned commitment to exemplary turf conditions and be able to build and lead a team with that same commitment. Requires current state of Illinois pesticide applicators license or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.

$45,000 - $55,000

To commensurate with education and experience
