To all members of the
NWIGSA:
The NWIGCSA along with JW
Turf will once again be awarding the John Buck Memorial Scholarship this fall to
assist with a student’s continuing education.
Eligibility requirements
are as follows:

Any full time student
currently enrolled in a turf related program going into the turf industry
-
Any student in any
field of study who has an immediate family member that is a member of the
NWIGCSA and has been in good standing with the chapter for a minimum of 3
years
-
All applications must
be filled out completely
-
Students must have a
minimum GPA of 2.5
-
Letter of
recommendation from at least 1 employer
AND
1 advisor/teacher
-
Past winners are not
eligible to receive the scholarship award again
-
Please limit your
answers to the essay questions to 100 words
Extensive critiquing is
used in judging who is eligible to win the scholarship award. Not only is your
GPA looked at, but the difficulty of your courses in relation to your GPA;
course workload; number of semester hours; 4 year vs. 2 year school. All
applications are also graded on involvement in clubs and the community, your
work experience towards your career goals, the variety of work performed at
different facilities, and finally your overall competency and grammar on your
application.
Awards will be made based
on academics, leadership, and career preparation. You can find the scholarship
forms on our website at
www.nwigcsa.org.
The deadline for applications is November 30th
2011.
